Virtus BR - Internship Position in M&A, Debt Restructuring and Project Finance
Virtus BR is a leading independent investment banking firm in Brazil focused on M&A, debt restructuring, private
placement, fairness opinion, and project finance advisory services. Since its foundation, Virtus BR has advised its clients
in M&A, debt restructuring and project finance transactions worth over US$40 billion. In the past few years, Virtus BR,
through its partners and affiliates, has advised clients in landmark transactions, including:
▪ Independent advisory to AEGEA on the PPP auction in connection with sewage operations concessions for
CAGECE's clusters #1 and #2 (US$3.5 billion);
▪ Constellation's in-court debt restructuring representing the Ad Hoc group of bondholders (US$1.8 billion);
▪ Sale of Focus Energia to Eneva (US$189 million);
▪ Independent financial advisor of Focus Energia on its IPO (US$144 million);
▪ Conversion of unsecured credits into shares of Oi representing the Ad Hoc Group of bondholders (US$2.8 billion);
▪ Sale of CSN, owner of the largest privately-held water utilities concession in Brazil, to AEGEA (US$331 million);
▪ Oi's in-court debt restructuring representing the Ad Hoc Group of bondholders (US$18.4 billion);
▪ Embraport's out-of-court debt restructuring, followed by a 100% acquisition by DP World (US$610 million);
▪ CGG's out-of-court debt restructuring representing Sojitz Corporation (US$170 million);
▪ Odebrecht Agroindustrial's out-of-court debt restructuring (US$3.6 billion);
▪ Aralco’s in-court debt restructuring (US$429 million);
▪ Merger between Claro, Net, and Embrapar (US$12.3 billion);
▪ Acquisition of a container terminal by EcoRodovias (US$705 million);
▪ Sale of a minority stake in Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias to Gávea Investimentos (US$168 million).
Role Description
▪ Provide support to the senior team in the origination and execution of M&A, debt restructuring, and project finance
assignments;
▪ Preparation and presentation of industry analyses, information memoranda, financing proposals, financial
modeling, due diligence, amongst others;
▪ The selected candidate will actively participate in all stages of the ongoing projects, with high responsibility and
exposure since the beginning of the internship.
Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Knowledge
▪ Current enrollment at an undergraduate institution with expected graduation in Dec/2023 or Dec/2024;
▪ Exceptional problem solving and communications skills;
▪ Fluency in English;
▪ Strong interest in financial markets;
▪ Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word;
▪ Corporate finance, accounting, valuation, and financial modeling skills are considered an asset.
