Position Title: Senior Mechanical/Process Engineer

Employment Type: Permanent full-time

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Local: Perth/WA

 

About the Role

This position is responsible for managing internal teams, mentoring subordinates, winning work, managing and delivering major projects on time and within budget, as well as liaising with clients and subcontractors to ensure project deliverables meet with Company and client specifications/requirements. In addition to this, this role is also tasked with directing day-to-day project operations in their area of expertise, as well as being involved with the development and execution of mid-term Company goals.

Some of the duties you will be responsible for in this role include:

Project Management:

Develop and review basic/standard and complex project proposals

Act as project manager of large and complex engineering projects (including studies)

Manage client communications and key client relationships

Select, contract and monitor the performance of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors

Issue/Review detailed project close-out reports, at the completion of each project

Engineering Design:

Provide the Company’s drawing office with details needed for them to produce complex models, GA and other detailed drawings

Review and approve such drawings

Develop, review and approve standard engineering deliverables, including:

Datasheets, Lists, Specifications, IOM manuals and Cost reports

Develop, review and approve other engineering designs, including:

Hydraulic - pipelines/backfill

Transients - pipelines/backfill

Stress analysis

Mechanical

Workplace Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

Ensure all activities performed at work are carried out in compliance with applicable HSE protocols, laws and regulations, as well as Company policies

Responsible for promoting HSE and HSE for any teams managed

Business Management:

Embody and help promote culture and values

Win significant work in area of expertise and with new clients

Improve existing and develop new client relationships

Assist with contracts on projects managed

Assist with mid-term business planning and goals

 

About you

Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical/Process, or equivalent)

Desired Qualifications: Post-Graduate qualification in project management or Post-Graduate qualification in relevant engineering field

 

Required Work Experience:

Minimum 6 years’ experience in slurry transportation/mineral processing, pipeline or pump station detailed design
Prior work experience in a supervisory capacity/leadership role
Significant project management experience

 

Required Skills:

Excellent computer literacy skills, including with MS Office package
Excellent written/verbal English communication skills
Strong project management skills
Sound people management/soft skills
Strong knowledge of slurry transport systems
Desired Skills:

Strong knowledge of steady-state slurry hydraulics and fluid mechanics
Strong knowledge of mechanical stress analysis
Strong knowledge of pipeline transient analysis
Prior or current experience with modelling/drawing software, including AutoCAD/Inventor/MicroStation/OpenRoads

 

Required Licences & Registrations:

Valid Australian driver’s licence - the company will provide support for it
Professional Engineering Chartership with EA or APEA - the company will provide support for it
Other Requirements:

Ability and willingness to travel when and if required
Flexibility to work outside standard office hours, if and when reasonable
Familiarity with the duties imposed upon you and the Company by Western Australia’s occupational health and safety legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) - desired requirement
